Research suggests that people with mild eczema who drink oolong tea three times a day may show improvement in itching and other symptoms. Compounds in the tea called polyphenols appear to be responsible.
For varicose veins, try horse chestnut, an herbal extract that’s been shown in studies to strengthen veins and reduce swelling. The herb is also available in topical creams, though there’s not as much evidence for these.
People whose diets are rich in potassium may be less prone to high blood pressure. Besides reducing sodium and taking other heart-healthy steps, eat potassium-packed picks such as bananas, cantaloupe, and oranges.
Tame tension headaches by rubbing peppermint oil, Tiger Balm, or white flower oil into your temples. All three remedies contain menthol, which has analgesic properties.
The volatile oils in ginger have long made it a useful herbal remedy for nasal and chest congestion. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over a 1-inch piece of peeled, grated ginger; steep for 10 minutes; and strain. Add a pinch or two of cayenne pepper to the water and drink as needed.
According to some research, catching a whiff of this aromatic herb may increase alertness and improve memory. To stay sharp, try smelling fresh rosemary or inhaling the scent of rosemary essential oil before a test or meeting.
Combat a yen for sugar by following a Chinese medicine approach: Eat foods such as endive, radicchio, cooked greens, and olives.

To keep yeast infections at bay, head for the vitamin aisle. Supplementing with “good” bacteria (for example, Lactobacillus or Bifidobacterium) may help restore the balance the of bacteria living in the female genital tract and inhibit the growth of yeast in women with recurrent infections. Foods such as naturally fermented sauerkraut, kimchi, and kefir, as well as yogurt with active cultures, also contain these bacteria.
Studies are mixed, but some have found that bilberry, a relative of the blueberry, may improve night vision. During World War II, fighter pilots reported better night vision after eating bilberry jam. Take 25 to 50 milligrams of bilberry extract; expect best results within the first few hours.

You may be trying to fix the healthcare system in your country…or dealing with family break-up…or exploring change – and making it happen – in your organisation…or worrying about how to look after your elderly parents…In any case, you ll know that with some problems it s hard to know where to start – we can t define them, we get in a muddle thinking about them, we may try to ignore some aspect/s of them and – when we finally do something – they usually get worse. These problems are so entangled they become messy situations and our first mistake is to try and fix them as we would fix a simple problem. But Systems Thinking offers a range of good ways of approaching these situations and unravelling them. Rosalind Armson is one of the world s foremost teachers and practitioners of Systems Thinking, and her remarkable book explains how these messes happen and what to do about them. Specifically, she sets out a series of sophisticated and challenging – but practical and easily learned – skills and techniques for thinking better when you re in a mess . Whether you re new to Systems Thinking or have long experience, this book invites you to develop your skills through working with your own messy situations. It s written for managers, project managers, team leaders, change leaders , strategists, policy makers and concerned citizens as well as university students from a broad set of disciplines. Organisations and readers in education, healthcare, environmental management, IT planning and social care are just a few of those likely to find it helpful.

Australia’s Worker Visa Abolished: What Does It Mean for Tech? (TEAM, INFY)
The ’removed’ list doesn’t include the tech occupations
that are among the biggest users of 457 visas – software and applications programmers (9,111 since 2014), ICT business and systems analysts (3,941 since 2014), ICT support and test engineers (1,503 since 2014) and ICT managers (1,664 since 2014).
“ICT is Australia’s fastest growing sector – growing at a rate of 2 per cent compared to 1.4 per cent per annum growth for the workforce as a whole – yet we are still losing
skilled workers to a globally competitive market,” said The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) in a statement as a response to the recent change.
(See also: The H-1B Visa Issue Explained)
Since the government made the announcement about the visa policy change, there has been
an outcry from the Australian tech industry that complains of a talent shortage.
The only caveat is that ICT project managers, software testers, ICT systems test engineers,
and ICT support engineers need to have had at least two years experience in the occupation before they arrive to work in Australia.
The Australian Population Research Institute found
that 76 percent of 457 visas for IT occupations go to Indian nationals and a large majority of them are sponsored by Indian IT service companies, like Infosys (INFY) and Tata Consultancy Services, as intra-company transfers.
Their success here also means that they are in a good position to provide clients with the low cost option of moving the operations they have installed
to their offshore offices,” wrote the Australian Population Research Institute authors in a report titled “Immigration Overflow: Why It Matters.”
The 457 visa, which like the American H-1B visa was sponsored by employers, will be replaced by the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa.
